Words are not enough to express our gratitude for all the kindness and care we have been given over the past two months at Hazeldean Gardens. We were very happy living there and it was always comforting for us to know how well we were being looked after. August to October has been a difficult time for our family during the restoration of our basement after a flood and for all of the Canadian communities during the COVID outbreak but it was made much easier for us knowing we were in the best of hands with everything we needed and we were happy with the management and their wonderful employees. Their kindness, compassion and patience are so grand and very much appreciated by us. Thanks again to a really great team: members of management, reception, nursing, activities, physiotherapy clinic, kitchen and amazing food service, cleaning and weekly housekeeping, and facilities such as the large courtyard, library, pool, beach, theater, greenhouse, fitness and games rooms, hairdresser, bistro, auditorium, lounge, aquarium and many more. Hazeldean Gardens is such a happy home and we enjoyed being part of that home and family and will also enjoy visiting and possibly staying there again.Cana and Emin Balay - Solarium Table 21

My grandparents moved into Hazeldean Gardens in 2020. My Grandmother passed away shortly after moving in so for the most part my Grandfather was the only one living there.Over his three years there, he furthered into his dementia a significant amount and we knew he was going to need LTC soon. He was on the waitlist for 5 homes but my mom still received an email from the DOC saying that my Grandfathers behaviours were becoming problematic. What were his behaviours? Well he was going to the front desk and asking when dinner was, he once went to the dinning room with his pants on backwards and need more direction throughout the day. And like most people, when brushed off or ignored he became agitated. Seems like for the price he was paying this would be okay behaviour, needing direction and clarification in a SENIORS home should not be considered disruptive behaviour.Management is a piece of work, the DOC does not help find solutions other than pay more money for this and for that. The home is beautiful but it’s a money grab. Sub par care for an extreme price. They needed my grandfather to move up a floor because of his “behaviours” to the tune of an additional 3 thousand dollars. Management could use a few classes on empathy and kindness, more specially the DOC and general manager. That being said, there are some incredible employees at Hazeldean Gardens. The ladies at the front desk were always so kind to my Grandfather, and Rylan from the activities department was exceptional with the seniors in the residence. The housekeepers were charismatic and cleaned with care and Chris Jackson was another employee who we felt cared.I have talked with employees at Hazeldean Gardens and you should too when considering a home for your loved ones. It is not enough to have a handful of caring individuals, management sets the tone for the rest of the employees. The look of the home should not be your determining factor when choosing a home for your loved ones. Even salt looks like sugar. If we could go back in time, we would choose another home.

Dear Management Staff of HG,It has been 2 months since my parents, moved into HG. You have no idea how your friendly environment, loads of activities and great food has meant to, not only my parents, but to me. It was an extremely difficult time leading up to the move and my biggest worry was that they wouldn’t be happy. Nothing could be further from the truth! They are both thoroughly enjoying their days at HG with various activities and talk about the friendliness of staff and neighbours and great food!Sending out updates to me monthly is just another reason why HG is a class above other Ottawa residents and it leaves me feeling so secure with our decision of picking Hazeldean Gardens as the place for them to settle for their final years.

After a back surgery I had to recoup for a short stay and I was fortunate enough to spend it here at Hazeldean Gardens! Well this has been a most wonderful experience I could have ever hoped or prayed for. It has been a time in my life I will never forget and will always remember with fond memories. This place is a home away from home. The atmosphere is beautiful, the people are beautiful and the staff are all pleasant, kind and so cheerful. It is just a very happy place to be so the residents are happy and cheerful. What more could one ask for? The place is spotless and the staff will go out of their way to please. There are many activities to do. One does not ever have to get bored. Rylen the activities director was my saving grace on my I-pad. Coudos to Chris who runs a great ship. I have made a lot of wonderful acquaintances there who I will always remember. Thank you so much for your kindness. I will be back one day.

After a year and a half of eating alone, unable to socialize except outdoors, I thought I would be better off in a residence that would give me some of the things I needed. I researched what I could see on linen and opted for Hazeldean Gardens. Here I have the ability to socialize. I eat properly, something that I had not been doing during the pandemic. In a recent medical emergency I found the response of the nursing staff to be fantastic. This is not a nursing home, but the nursing component is important and valuable. The food is well-balanced and healthy. The staff are helpful, going out of their way to do what they can for the residents. I highly recommend Hazeldean Gardens to anyone looking for a place to spend their retirement years.

Hazeldean Gardens was highly recommended to me by a chance meeting with a resident who just happened to be at a table beside me in an offsite restaurant. I called Hazeldean Gardens and asked for a tour which was promptly set up. I noticed how relaxed, friendly, happy, cheery, helpful was everyone, staff, residents. I signed up immediately to stay in a short term suite during my medical treatments. And now am staying on as a permanent resident. I have found a wonderful home. Thank you, Hazeldean Gardens.

The Stittsville Brainery recently held a workshop at Hazeldean Gardens. It is such a beautiful, clean and spacious facility and everyone there is so friendly. Huge thank you to Hazeldean Gardens for allowing the community to use their facilities at no cost for non-profit events. It is very much appreciated.

The care at Hazeldean Gardens has been nothing short of amazing. My grandfather spent the last year of his life in this beautiful home. He was cared for by the Memory Care staff on the 2nd floor (suffered with Dementia), diligently and lovingly to his last moment. I waited for this place to be built for a whole year patiently so I get let him to experience a place of love, care, compassion and fun, well he did. I too found solitude in the families on our floor that we could understand eachothers struggles with caring for our loved ones. We supported eachother, we had the staff support us in every way, they too became apart of my family. Grandpa loved his beautiful ladies and you all know who you are... I am eternally grateful for your hearts, your strength, your devotion to help people in the hardest of times. PSWs and Nursing do not get enough praise for what they do, if people could only see what they deal with. This is the difference of this beautiful residence over others. Its a "home" literally.... in all terms, its were you hang your hat, its where you dance, eat great food and celebrate life....this place warms the soul.Thank you Chris, Diane, Alan, Gabe, Savannah, Barb, Brenda, Margaret, Jen, Wendy, Samantha, and so many more of you. See you again soon. Xoxoxoxo

My husband and I stayed at Hazeldean Gardens for a short term stay as my parents moved in, and we wanted to be with them for a few weeks as they transitioned into their new home (and we live a distance away). We were made to feel like home right away by the staff and owners of Hazeldean. This is a family run place, and we definitely felt like family right away. We loved dining for every meal in the dining room. Every meal was served hot and fresh. For breakfast, lunch and dinner there was always a choice, which my husband being a picky eater particularly liked. The servers even started to remember what salads and sandwiches he liked the best, and would put together his favourite combinations for lunch! So nice of them! For my parents, they have transitioned easily into their new home (far easier than we would have thought, and now I think we were silly to be worried at all given they came to a place like Hazeldean!). The facility is so clean, comfortable and new, we couldn't be happier with our choice. The nurses, front desk staff and servers all know my parents by name and they have made a bunch of friends. We are so happy knowing my parents are here and we will be back for an extended stay again, knowing we can stay at such a wonderful spot!

Servers are great , chef amazing . Management not so much . They fire there employees with no probable cause . Very Unprofessional I personally as a former worker find them money hungry and while working there witnessed a lot of disrespect from management toward employees . Everyone is replaceable and it’s sad to see when staff care so much about residence . For what you pay to live there I wouldn’t say it’s worth it. I would recommend Wildpines ! Staff seem great there ! This place is far from a family and team. They are cut throat and some of the management make you uncomfortable. Don’t eat there cocktail fruit it’s gross and sits for days and they will still serve to residents. Wildpines in Stittsville is less expensive and more personable

My wife and I spent 10 Days at Hazelton Gardens in May 2019. We had to move out of our Condo as some renovations were being done. A friend of ours suggested we consider this retirement home as she had heard it was very nice. This newly built very impressive retirement residence has all the facilities, programs and needs to insure a friendly and comfortable environment. The General Manager, Dianne, Owners and all staff members go out of their way to accommodate the needs of Residents and guests. The meals were very delicious and the Chef was quite often in the dining area conversing with the Residents. We are seniors but not ready to make the retirement home move and this was a very positive experience.

We stayed at Hazeldean Gardens visiting family over the Victoria Day long weekend. While we are not permanent residents of the building, we were welcomed by all of the staff and those living at Hazeldean. Hazeldean is the nicest retirement residence we have ever been too (and I've been to several as my nana moved around quite a bit until she found one she was happy with). The building is really state of the art and exceptionally clean. There are so many different areas to enjoy, whether it be the lounge with really comfortable seating and lots of light, the bistro with tea and snacks, or the games room with a pool table and TV! We were also really impressed with all the activities at Hazeldean... from pool aerobics to arts & crafts, even a fashion show! It really seemed to create a sense of community in the building. The other thing that we really noticed while visiting is the staff at Hazeldean. Everyone was so friendly, and seemed to really care about our stay; and even more importantly, care about the well being of the residents of the building. On several occasions, while sitting in the dining room, we could hear the waitresses remembering the resident's every detail about their meal and carrying on a great conversation. The building manager (Dianne) was often visiting with different residents of the building and seemed to go over and above to make sure everyone was happy. We really can't stay enough good about Hazeldean! Thank you so much!

Stephanie Jones, daughter of resident Rosemary Langley Hazeldean Gardens, is truely such an ideal retirement residence, we are thrilled that my Mother can call it home. It is family owned and run and this family is caring, professional, respectful and available. All of the staff here are committed to really knowing and treating each resident as an individual . Daily activities are designed to keep everyone mobile and engaged and happy. . There are celebrations, parties , entertainment, games, movies, bus excursions, excercise classes in the activity room and the pool. The most well attended activity is the happy hour (after bingo) every Friday afternoon . The star of this lovely home is their amazing Executive Chef , Stephen Gervais, who prepares delicious meals, and goes out of his way to make everyone feel special, and indulge even the fussiest eaters . The Activities Director, is outstanding at his job, and is integral in keeping the programs seamless. His humour is one of the reasons why everyone here always appears happy .Dianne, the General Manager is professional, kind, attentive, approachable, and made the transition of moving very easy.I compliment the owners and their families for being so accommodating, and making the quality of life so much better for all of the residents. The nursing care has been terrific. It is so nice to see my Mother in such a happy, healthy environment.

What a beautiful place to make your next new home. The building is new and so everything is bright and cheery. The dining room is elegantly appointed and the staff are very pleasant and courteous. The chef is world class.Office staff, maintenance, recreation personnel are constantly at your beck and call to assist in any way possible. The library, cinema, chapel, swimming pool, games room, and “the beach” are first class. In my estimation, it would be more difficult to keep people out of the residence than it would be to keep them in.To sum up, Hazeldean Gardens is simply the best I have seen and experienced for many years.Richard Fitzpatrick

Hazeldean Gardens has everything that we were looking for in a retirement residence. From the moment that I walked through the front doors, I could hear laughter and feel the camaraderie in residents, staff and management. There is so much to do if you want to and everything is elegantly appointed. The food is amazing and the dining rooms are so comfortable. Stephen, the chef walks through the dining room during meals to get feedback and actually listens. In fact, everybody, Diane, Chris, Gabe and the people at reception all treat you like family. They pitch in and do whatever it takes to make things work. The dining room staff are so personable and know all of your likes and dislikes.Because this is a brand new building, it is like walking in to your next new home. Everything is bright and shiny. The maintenance staff do such a phenomenal job of keeping everything spotless. We were joking today that it similar to be on a luxury cruise liner without the rocking back and forth.Keep up the good work everybody.

Ever since my mother moved in to the residence in Sept 2018, she has been much happier. There are plenty of activities that she participates in and the facilities are exceptional. The facility has 4 elevators so she doesn't have to use the stairs any more when a single elevator breaks down or needs maintenance. There is 100% generator capacity so she can even watch TV when the power in Stittsville is out. We (and many others) have birthday parties in one of the large rooms on the Concourse level where they provide a wide range of services (dishes, coffee, tea, juice, table cloths etc) all at no additional charge to the resident. The food is excellent and well suited to elderly appetites. They even provide a special kind of rye bread that my mother likes for her sandwiches. Stephen (the chef) is fantastic and his meals are amazing. He even made Danish Meatballs for us one evening when he found out that we were from Denmark. The nursing staff (under Brenda) are very helpful (24 hours a day), they have a call button for every resident so they can get help if they need it while on the residence. The nurses dispense medication and monitor my mother so I don't have to worry that she forgot to take her pills (or that she may have taken too many). The cleaning staff are also very helpful and accommodating. Diane (the Manager) meets with the residents every day for coffee and if anyone is having any issues, she knows about it and deals with it right away. Gabe is the activities director and he organizes things and gets everyone involved in the activities. He is a lot of fun. They have outside entertainers that come to sing or play music or just entertain the residents. There are movies in the theatre with actual theatre seating and a large screen, and they provide popcorn. Chris helped us when we first came to see the residence and showed us all the features and explained all the service options. We see him every time we come by and he is always friendly helpful and seems to know all the residents by name. As a matter of fact, all the staff seem to know everyone's name (even ours). All the staff are very helpful and I have never heard any of them say " that's not my job ", whatever you need, they pitch right in and help you even if they are doing something else. The residents are also very friendly, and can be counted on to help other residents when they forget where they are, or where they are going. I only live 10 minutes away, so I can come by frequently and have coffee or play bingo or work on jig saw puzzles or have dinner with my mom.If I could give a six star rating, I would.
