BRENDA MACLEAN, R.N., B.Sc. N., M. Ed.
General Manager
Brenda has many years of nursing and management experience, both in the hospital setting and in the public health sector. As a manager at Ottawa Public Health, she was responsible for overseeing a number of programs focusing on family health, chronic disease prevention, the prevention and control of infectious diseases, and environmental health issues. Brenda worked directly with long-term care homes and retirement residences throughout the Ottawa area for a number of years, to prevent infectious diseases in these settings, and to implement the annual influenza immunization program for residents and staff.
Brenda was the Director Care at Hazeldean Gardens for two years and recently transitioned to the General Manager role. She is responsible for overseeing the team of departmental managers who are committed to ensuring that every resident receives high quality care and services in a respectful and safe manner. Brenda is available to all residents and their families for any support or assistance they may require, or to address any issues that may arise.
Brenda’s goal is to ensure a safe and healthy environment for residents, their families and the staff of Hazeldean Gardens!
CHRIS JACKSON
Community Relations Manager
As Community Relations Manager, Chris Jackson is responsible for attracting and welcoming new residents to our community at Hazeldean Gardens. He is also responsible for our many outreach activities aimed at ensuring Hazeldean Gardens is recognized as an integral part of the surrounding community.
One example of our community outreach is the innovative public-private partnership we established with the City of Ottawa and the Kavanagh family to enhance the greenspace at the intersection of Stittsville Main and Hazeldean Road, now known as “Kavanagh Green”. Another is our partnership with the Goulbourn Museum to create one-of-a-kind experiences for our residents, including bringing a rotating display of artifacts from the museum to Hazeldean Gardens.
Chris understands the importance of treating our residents as customers who have a right to expect superior customer service. He has over 20 years of experience in a variety of businesses, including owning and operating an Edible Arrangements franchise.
Dythyra Bour
Director of Care
As the Director of Care, Dythyra provides leadership to the team of Nurses and Personal Support Workers (PSW) at Hazeldean Gardens whose goal is to create an environment of caring, and to ensure the optimal health and wellbeing of our Residents. Dythyra is committed to collaborating with the Residents and their families as needed, to achieve the best level and quality of individualized care for the Residents.
Dythyra has over 10 years of experience in the Health Care field. She first started as a PSW, then completed her Nursing training, and most recently, moved into the role of the Director of Care at Hazeldean Gardens. Dythyra has worked with seniors for her entire career, primarily in the Retirement Home sector, but also has some experience with working in the hospital setting.
Dythyra was born in Thailand and spent her early years there. Dythyra’s family moved to Canada when she was 10 years young. She graduated from the Personal Support Worker Program at Algonquin College, then went on to complete the Practical Nursing program there as well. Dythyra, along with her Nursing colleagues, strive to provide the highest standard of care to our Residents, and feels content and satisfied knowing our residents are in a safe and caring environment.

STAN MARCINIAK
Environmental Services Manager
Our Environmental Services Manager, Stan Marciniak is responsible for maintenance and housekeeping, as well as building security and fire safety. He is a Technical College graduate, who immigrated to Canada from Poland 30 years ago, and has worked with the owners of Hazeldean Gardens for over 10 of those years.
Stan enjoys interaction with our residents and assisting them in any way he can. He and his team are always available to respond to minor problems that may arise, or to help with everyday chores such as arranging furniture or hanging pictures.
Apart from his technical skills, Stan takes pride in the achieving the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance. This will be obvious to anyone visiting Hazeldean Gardens
RACHEL NOWLAN
Office Manager
Rachel is responsible for our administrative services including the preparation of resident statements, accounts payable, employee records and payroll as well as supervising our reception team. She studied Medical and Dental Office Administration at college, and has administrative management experience.
Rachel is from a small town called Athens, Ontario which is a little over an hour from Ottawa and she moved to Ottawa in 2011. She loves hiking, running and relaxing outside with a good book.
You will find her with her office door open and happy to help residents, families and staff with any administrative questions they may have.
